WHAT IS BEHAVIORAL NEUROLOGY?
A behavioral neurologist analyzes and treats cognitive and behavioral impairments resulting from a brain disorder or injury. Symptoms may include impaired memory, perception, cognition or emotional state. Because neuroendocrinology and behavioral neurology patients often share the same symptoms, finding the underlying basis for a disorder is key to managing it correctly. Many doctors fail
to recognize this overlap between hormones and brain function, leading to
incorrect diagnoses.
Our approach to neurological disorders
In my practice, we employ state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of neurological problems resulting from epilepsy, memory disorders such as Alzheimer's, behavioral disorders such as attention deficit disorder and obsessive/compulsive disorder , traumatic brain injury and other causes. In particular, we take a holistic approach to preventing and/or slowing down the effects of aging on the brain and its function, along with lessening risk factors for the future development of Alzheimer's disease
and dementia. Our diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation includes:
Conducting a holistic review of the patient's history
Performing a neurological and neuropsychological examination
to assess brain function in various areas
Developing a treatment plan
Determining whether neuroenhancing and/or psychopharmacologic
treatments are needed for mood disorders, cognitive problems and
behavioral issues associated with neurological diseases
